How To Fill Up On God’s Love

I must confess, I have been very anxious and stressed out lately. It’s really easy to fall victim to this. For me, it is more an issue of control than anything. My mind gets burdened with thoughts and worries about work, family, God, ministry, missions, health, finances, and more. It is a constant surrender. Who really is in control, God or me?

My wife and I recently got rid of a lot of distractions in our house, the cable being one of them. I tend to fill this void (a.k.a. a deep need for God’s love) with a lot of other things. It’s easy to shift my focus towards the internet, emails and my to do list for fulfillment, rather than filling up with God. How desperately I need Him. I’m happy to admit that. Call it a crutch if you will, but for me it’s an issue of life or death.

I believe that we can die long before we ever get to the grave. The question is, are you really living in God’s will for your life? Do you feel His supernatural love, peace and joy in everything you do? Don’t worry, I’m not pointing fingers. I must admit that I don’t experience this myself as much as I ought to either.

Parable of The Fountain

It’s kind of like our water fountain outside. When it’s full of water it naturally overflows, constantly filling and being filled over and over again. However, even this over time runs dry. It doesn’t last forever. The fountain always needs to be refilled with the source of it’s life.

Just like us, we need to constantly be filled with the love of God. Without Him there is no true life, joy or peace. We become brittle, dry, calloused and cold. We begin to wither away inside even if we look fully alive on the outside. It’s easy to fool ourselves.

We need God’s love and to be in His presence. His offer of life in abundance comes from spending time in His word, presence, community and complete surrender. It is taking our focuses off of the distractions of this world and placing our eyes and trust in Jesus.

He longs to fill you up to overflowing. But we must constantly go back to the source. This world is broken, lonely and hopeless without Him. We were created to be in constant fellowship with our creator, the lover of our souls. So start filling up on His love today and your life will never be the same!
